Ethiopia is one the top 25 biodiversity-rich countries in the world and hosts at least two of the world’s biodiversity hotspots, namely the Eastern Afromontane and the Horn of Africa hotspots

Green Award

Green Award Program (GAP) is an environment award program which is initiated and implemented by Forum for Environment with the financial assistance from SIDA/SLUF Environment Program. The annual award program recognizes, acknowledges and celebrates initiatives and outstanding achievements of individuals as well as institutions in protecting and enhancing the environment. H.E Green Hero Girma Woldegiorgis, President of F.D.R.E is the patron of GAP since the beginning of the program in 2006.The criteria of GAP seriously considers gender when selection of winners. GAP has recently instituted a Media category awarding individual journalists and media institutions working on tourism and environment in collaboration with Ethiopian Sustainable Tourism Alliance (ESTA).
